At first it was located in West Seventh Street , L.A with only eight studentes, by 1940 it grown nearly 500 studentes representing 36 states.
In 1949, Art Center became an accredited four-year college by Western Association of Schools and Colleges, and offered its first bachelor of professional arts degrees in Industrial Design, Photography, Illustration and Advertising.
It played a seminal role in the founding of the first advanced design studio for the automotive industry in the 1950.
The college changed its name to Art Center Collegue of Design on 1965 an in 1976 the school moved to Hillside Campus in Pasadena
In 2003, the Art Center was granted Non Govermental Organization status by the UN Department of Public Information, Art Center opened the South Campus in Pasadena in 2004.
